Lawyer Dennis Paulo Kavuma has launched the Gravitas Leadership Institute, a bold initiative to empower the next generation of leaders in Uganda. Kavuma, a seasoned business executive and lawyer, founded the institute in 2025 to address a gap he observed in young Ugandans' leadership development. He noticed that while many excel academically, they struggle with clarity, self-awareness, and strategic life planning. The institute's approach is holistic, focusing on personal and professional impact, and it targets individuals at various life stages, from secondary and university students to graduates and older individuals seeking reinvention. The name Gravitas, meaning 'weight', 'depth', and 'dignity', reflects the institute's philosophy of leading with integrity and influence. Kavuma's vision is rooted in his own journey, marked by resilience, faith, and determination. He attended Saint Mary's School in Nairobi, where he developed leadership skills as a school prefect and sports captain. His academic and professional path, spanning media, law, corporate leadership, and diaspora leadership, has shaped his approach to leadership training. The institute's training modules encourage participants to set extraordinary goals, create personalized life strategies, and develop practical habits for long-term growth. GLI embraces inclusivity, catering to teenagers, university students, professionals, and retirees. Kavuma emphasizes that leadership is not about age or titles but about faith in oneself and one's purpose.
