Milana Vayntrub, widely recognized for her charming role as Lily Adams in AT&T commercials, has also dabbled in more sinister characters on screen. One notable performance was in the popular HBO comedy series co-created by Mike Judge, titled "Silicon Valley."
In this show, which ran for six successful seasons, Vayntrub made two appearances as a character named Tara. While her part might be considered small, it's worth noting that she likely delivered more dialogue in a typical AT&T advertisement lasting less than a minute than she did across her entire arc in the series. Nevertheless, her comedic contributions left a lasting impression on viewers. In the episode from Season 1 called "Third Party Insourcing," Tara is introduced as the partner of Bertram Gilfoyle, played by Martin Starr. The duo bonds over their mutual interest in LaVeyan Satanism — a belief system that does not involve the worship of a literal devil, distinguishing it from other forms of Satanism.
Tara reappears in Season 3 during an episode titled "To Build a Better Beta." In this instance, she appears onscreen alongside her pet snake, offering encouragement to the team at Pied Piper regarding the beta version of their software.
Interestingly, some fans of "Silicon Valley" feel that Tara deserved a more prominent storyline. One Reddit user expressed, "I think Tara was a really underrated character and I think her backstory could've been interesting to explore!" Another fan chimed in, noting, "Don't think SV really showed her humor, but I'm always psyched to see that she's in something I dig."
And here’s where it gets intriguing: could there have been potential for deeper character development in Tara's storyline? What do you think — should supporting characters like Tara receive more screen time to flesh out their narratives? Share your thoughts in the comments!
