DC teaser reactions: Fans express fatigue over excessive violence in Lokesh Kanagaraj's film, praise Anirudh's score | Hindustan Times
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for films like Leo, Coolie, and Vikram, is set to make his acting debut in the upcoming movie DC, directed by Arun Matheswaran. The producers, Sun Pictures, released a teaser on Valentine's Day, revealing a blood-soaked revenge tale that has left viewers divided.
The teaser introduces the main characters: Sanjana AK as Parvathy, Lokesh Kanagaraj as Devadas, and Wamiqa Gabbi as Chandra. It's an adaptation of the classic love story Devdas, but with a twist: a violent, gang-war-filled narrative. A particularly graphic scene of Lokesh killing another man with a blade has sparked strong reactions.
Many viewers were not impressed by the excessive violence. One commenter stated, 'It's a shame to rely on gory violence to compensate for a lack of emotional depth. This is a step backward for Tamil cinema.' Another agreed, 'The trailer was enjoyable until the gratuitous violence at the end. It's a big turn-off.' A common sentiment was the fatigue over the constant bloodshed and killings in Tamil films.
However, not all reactions were negative. Fans praised Anirudh's background score, calling it the highlight of the teaser. One commenter said, 'Anirudh's score is exceptional, as always.' Another fan eagerly awaited the full score, expecting it to be 'mind-blowing.'
